We woke up to a very rainy morning here in Palermo; regardless, we carried on with our plan for the morning. Tom was determined to take us to the Capo Market, and as a group we have made a pact to forever make Tom Mould happy so we did as we were told. We were assigned to 5 groups to observe 5 differing sections of the market. We mapped out our sections through an aerial map, and observed the people and materials located in each of our sections while questioning their presence in the market. We were there for about an hour, and the rain came down off and on throughout that time. We saw food and clothing primarily being sold. Some highlights include a ginormous swordfish, artichokes with much foliage, as well as both small and large octopus!
The opening view of the market which we labeled "section 1."
We're ready for lunch, Mike and Tom!
After our observations fo the market, Mike and Tom led us through the city to eat lunch. At said lunch we discussed what we noticed and analyzed at the market while munching on fried vegetables and a very yummy bowl of spaghetti. After eating our main courses we ventured onto dessert: cannolis! These cannolis in particular weren't my favorite, but the majority of us enjoyed them very much.
A view from our walk to lunch. In every city we've been to thus far there have been beautiful holiday lights decorating the streets.
Katie and I looking in awe at some cannolis from lunch.
After eating our hefty lunch, we were ready for our cultural tour with Anita! Part 2 of this day detailing our cultural tour (by Faith Glover) can be found below this post.
A few of us expressing our joy before embarking on our cultural tour. We're standing in front of a church that we would come to know later in the day.
Ciao for Now!
Clara :)
